Teaching first aid in schools
I have delivered training to a wide range of education settings ensuring staff are sufficiently trained in first aid for the age range they teach. Please take a look at my courses for adult first aid courses.
Mini Medics
In addition to this, I have also supported schools by delivering Mini-Medics training to pupils, to meet the National Curriculum objective that children and young people should be taught first aid skills at both primary and secondary levels, as part of the RSE curriculum.
Mini medics is a very basic introduction to first aid and defibrillation aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11 but it can suit children of any age .
The course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminologies; keeping it educational and practical whilst instilling the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured. Each child will receive a certificate of participation.
Courses are 1 or 3 hours in length and include the following topics:
- CPR
- Recovery position
- What to do in a first aid situation (DR ABC)
- Choking
- Wounds and bleeding
- Asthma
